A global pandemic thrusted the entire world to a screeching halt as everyone cowered in fear inside their homes. For a time, it felt like everything had changed. Face-to-face activities seemed as if they were just relics of a bygone era. We thought everything had to revolve around the four corners of a screen and all those times joking about \u201cthis could\u2019ve been an email\u201d suddenly had an aura of regret.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"d77gr-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"d77gr-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"d77gr-0-0\">A deadly virus of which the general public had little to no knowledge was spreading fast with no direct cure or means of immunization. In a span of weeks, entire countries would report thousands of new cases on a daily basis. It was all the media was talking about.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"7mhm9-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"7mhm9-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"7mhm9-0-0\">Scientists and medical experts scrambled to look for a solution but were very vocal that it won\u2019t come anytime soon. The fastest time frame a vaccine was developed through viral sampling was four years for the mumps in the 1960s. However, on December 2, 2020, Pfizer and German biotech firm BioNTech produced the <\/span><span style=\"position: relative;\"><a style=\"color: #1890ff; cursor: pointer; outline: none; transition-property: color; touch-action: manipulation;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-020-03626-1#:~:text=But%20by%20the%20start%20of,be%20approved%20for%20emergency%20use\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"7mhm9-1-0\">very first<\/span><\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"7mhm9-2-1\">fully-tested immunization vaccine that was ready for emergency use.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"c4and-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"c4and-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"c4and-0-0\">Natalie Dean, a biostatistician at the University of Florida in Gainesville, claimed that the speed of the production \u201cchallenges our whole paradigm of what is possible in vaccine development\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"eg4g4-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"eg4g4-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"eg4g4-0-0\">For a time, the medical industry was ecstatic about the possibilities of creating potential cures for other diseases. Dan Barouch, director of the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts says that \u201cthe development process can be accelerated substantially without compromising on safety.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"3tqgq-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"3tqgq-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"3tqgq-0-0\">Soon after, other <\/span><span style=\"position: relative;\"><a style=\"color: #1890ff; cursor: pointer; outline: none; transition-property: color; touch-action: manipulation;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov.ph\/list-of-fda-issued-emergency-use-authorization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"3tqgq-1-0\">COVID-19 vaccines<\/span><\/a><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"3tqgq-2-1\">such as AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sputnik, Janssen, Sinovac, and Covovax came out and offered a variety of choices for the public. Everyone rushed to get their doses and the world slowly but surely went back to normal without having to worry about catching a stray virus every time they stepped out of their homes. Vaccine hesitancy is driven by a variety of factors, including mistrust of the government and pharmaceutical companies, concern about potential side effects, and misinformation.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"d8ntj-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"d8ntj-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"d8ntj-0-0\">In order to combat vaccine hesitancy, it is crucial to provide accurate information about the doses and their safety. Just as importantly, listening to the problems of those who are hesitant and work to address their specific concerns.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"asa3v-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"asa3v-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"asa3v-0-0\">No one likes being told their opinion is wrong. Just be active during your country\u2019s election season and you\u2019ll see what I\u2019m talking about. The first problem is that when people start to voice out their concerns regarding the COVID-19 vaccines, they\u2019re immediately looked down upon.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"74tc2-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"74tc2-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"74tc2-0-0\">There are valid reasons to refuse receiving a vaccine. Remember when you were afraid of needles as a kid? There are people who still haven\u2019t outgrown that fear. As much as you would hate to admit it, you have been a victim of this at some point. It\u2019s very easy for someone to make a claim that\u2019s posted publicly and all it takes is for one person to believe it until a domino effect happens. Remember when people thought <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/m2comms.com\/2022\/11\/15\/ivermectin-and-the-insanity-of-fake-news\/\"><span style=\"position: relative;\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"5tqc9-3-0\">horse medicine<\/span><\/span><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"5tqc9-4-1\">was the answer to COVID-19?<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"s2qm-0-0\">\n<div style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"s2qm-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"s2qm-0-0\">Being told that you\u2019re wrong can be frustrating and embarrassing. After all, everyone likes to think that their opinions are valid and well-informed. If you are discussing a controversial topic with someone who has a different point of view, it is important to listen to their arguments and consider the evidence they present. Otherwise, you risk coming across as close-minded and arrogant. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"77um0-0-0\">\n<h2 style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"77um0-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 30px; font-family: Georgia; font-weight: bold;\" data-offset-key=\"77um0-0-0\">Right message, wrong tone<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: start;\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"a50m4\" data-offset-key=\"d4crl-0-0\">\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px; position: relative; direction: ltr; text-align: inherit;\" data-offset-key=\"d4crl-0-0\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-size: 18px; font-family: Poppins;\" data-offset-key=\"d4crl-0-0\">Scientifically speaking, vaccines do save lives. The data backs it up and it has proven to reduce severe health risks from contracting the deadly virus. Unfortunately, the messaging behind COVID-19 vaccine operations was less than ideal. There is an indirect focus on fear mongering rather than presenting clear and relatable information that everyone can understand.
